Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred; other technical disciplines considered with relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience (5–10 years) in bid preparation and estimation within power generation, mining, or related industries.
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale, high-complexity estimates, including bids over $20 million and/or long-term major rental projects.
  • Advanced technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical power generation installations.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including understanding of currency markets, escalation, inflation, financing, bank guarantees, assets depreciation and replacement value.
  • Demonstrated success working in multidisciplinary teams across multiple bids.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to present estimation strategies and outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Commitment to safety, wellbeing, honesty, accountability, performance, and engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver accurate, on-time price estimates and quality, compliant submissions for large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
  • Engage constructively with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive quotations and evaluate cost-saving measures.
  • Ensure engineered solutions meet tender requirements and customer expectations.
  • Collate final submission documentation and support post-tender technical clarifications and negotiations.
  • Oversee multiple bid estimates concurrently, balancing competing priorities and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Participate in risk workshops for bids over $5m and contribute to comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Foster strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders, regularly presenting estimation strategies and outcomes to the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Identify and implement improvements in the estimation process to increase efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Mentor and develop other Estimators, sharing best practices and driving team growth.
  • Support the sales team in creating genset CSQs, DTOs, and maintaining communication with Cat® factories and design offices when required.
  • Ensure consistency in our client’s proposals and leverage insights from past bids and completed projects.
