REQUIREMENTS
- Proven proficiency in proofreading, copy editing, and editing across diverse formats
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey feedback and instructions
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences
- Familiarity with AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, and other relevant style guides
- Experience with fact checking and research methodologies
- Knowledge of journalism standards and technical writing principles
- Ability to utilize word processing tools efficiently for editing purposes
- Creative writing skills for developing engaging content when needed
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and edit a wide range of documents including essays, reports, proposals, articles, and creative works
- Proofread for grammatical accuracy, spelling, punctuation, and consistency
- Apply appropriate style guides such as AP Style, or specific client requirements
- Conduct fact-checking to verify the accuracy of information presented in documents
- Provide constructive feedback on writing structure, clarity, tone, and overall effectiveness
- Support staff in developing their writing skills through coaching and guidance on best practices
- Collaborate with staff to refine drafts through multiple rounds of editing and revision
