Navigator Education Manager
Job Description
REQUIREMENTS
- Five years’ work experience, including one year of experience as a Substance Use Navigator in a hospital emergency department or low-barrier setting.
- Bachelor’s degree, or high school diploma and an additional four years of work experience, or associate’s degree and an additional two years of work experience.
- Expertise in the areas of overdose prevention, substance use treatment, community outreach, community health workers, and behavioral health.
- Commitment to advancing social and racial justice.
- Strong training and presentation skills, and ability to facilitate and engage small and large groups in dialogue and learning.
- Experience with training and resource materials to support direct service providers.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Adaptable, flexible, and receptive to feedback.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in, and inform the development of, training and educational activities for the substance use navigation workforce as part of National Bridge training programs
- Inform the ongoing navigation training curriculum for National Bridge projects – including identifying agenda items, surfacing educational resources, hosting peer collaborative meetings, and other activities as identified by the team
- Provide peer mentorship to navigation staff participating in National Bridge programming – directly and as part of larger convenings
- Meet with external navigation staff to identify ongoing issues to be addressed via Bridge training – recruitment, onboarding, orientation, team formation, skills building, community collaboration and referral, and more
- Work with the Managing Director of Strategic Initiatives, and members of the National Bridge team, to advance development of an SUD crisis response curriculum to support training and education for individuals working and volunteering in the crisis response community (988, stabilization centers)
- Along with Bridge colleagues, review existing mental health crisis response training tools and resources to identify gaps to be addressed by Bridge’s SUD crisis response curriculum
- Develop and adapt existing educational and training materials to provide an overview of the SUD crisis response system for inclusion in a cohesive training curriculum
- Work with National team to engage partners from crisis response, SUD response, and national crisis response administrative bodies (SAMHSA, professional association) to inform content and identify collaborative models
