REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience in medical office administration or insurance verification roles
- Strong knowledge of managed care, medical terminology, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10)
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols
- Experience working with medical records and insurance verification systems
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with insurance providers and patients
- Office experience preferred, particularly in dental or healthcare settings
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all verification processes
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments or procedures
- Communicate with insurance companies to confirm coverage details, including CPT and ICD coding requirements
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling medical records and patient information
- Assist in the collection of accurate patient demographic and insurance data
- Collaborate with medical staff to resolve insurance-related issues promptly
- Maintain detailed records of verification activities and update patient accounts accordingly
- Support the office team with related administrative tasks as needed, including managing medical records and documentation
- Stay current with changes in managed care policies, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding updates
