REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in medical office administration or insurance verification roles
  • Strong knowledge of managed care, medical terminology, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10)
  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and confidentiality protocols
  • Experience working with medical records and insurance verification systems
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with insurance providers and patients
  • Office experience preferred, particularly in dental or healthcare settings
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all verification processes

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments or procedures
  • Communicate with insurance companies to confirm coverage details, including CPT and ICD coding requirements
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations when handling medical records and patient information
  • Assist in the collection of accurate patient demographic and insurance data
  • Collaborate with medical staff to resolve insurance-related issues promptly
  • Maintain detailed records of verification activities and update patient accounts accordingly
  • Support the office team with related administrative tasks as needed, including managing medical records and documentation
  • Stay current with changes in managed care policies, ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding updates
