Remote Bookkeeper

Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role with strong knowledge of accounting systems and software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Xero, Sage, or equivalent
• Solid understanding of corporate accounting practices, including payroll processing, tax experience, and governmental accounting (if applicable)
• Familiarity with financial concepts like debits & credits, journal entries, general ledger accounting, and double-entry bookkeeping
• Ability to perform bank reconciliation, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation accurately
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10 key typing is preferred
• Experience working remotely with excellent communication skills and self-motivation
• Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting principles is highly desirable

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems
• Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations to ensure consistency across all accounts
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
• Record journal entries, debits & credits, and double-entry bookkeeping to reflect all financial activities
• Manage payroll processing in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies
• Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and analysis to support organizational decision-making
• Conduct account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and account reconciliation tasks regularly to uphold data integrity
• Support non-profit or governmental accounting functions if applicable, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other standards
