Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of dedicated engineering experience managing high-rise tower cranes (e.g., Liebherr, Wolff, Wilbert).
  • Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of load charts, rigging practices, electrical schematics, and PLC drive systems.
  • Physical Capability: Physically fit to work at extreme heights and manage technical assessments in diverse outdoor environments.
  • Soft Skills: Clear cross-functional leadership skills to manage site technicians and align with project managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Site Planning & Deployment

  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys to evaluate optimal tower crane positioning.
  • Factor in building layouts, access routes, and structural loading impacts during planning.
  • Coordinate the marking of crane bases and placement of structural ties per engineering drawings.
  • Formulate detailed Method Statements and Risk Assessments (MSRA) for all crane operations.

2. Lifting & Logistics Engineering

  • Develop engineered lifting plans, defining load charts, rigging designs, and boundary constraints.
  • Analyze outrigger loadings, foundation capacities, and crane mat designs.
  • Program and establish restricted movement zones and anti-collision safety systems.

3. Erection, Dismantling & Commissioning

  • Supervise the safe erection, climbing, and dismantling phases of various tower crane models.
  • Validate structural stability and alignment during sequential assembly.
  • Execute comprehensive load testing and scaling protocols before signing off on deployment.

4. Inspections & Safety Compliance

  • Perform mandatory statutory inspections adhering to local authority approvals and international frameworks like LOLER and PUWER.
  • Enforce strict HSE practices and the industry standard 3-3-3 safety rule.
  • Maintain accurate engineering logs, statutory inspection files, and service histories.

5. Maintenance & Technical Troubleshooting

  • Manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to reduce operational downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical control system (PLC) faults.
  • Oversee workshop staff, control spare parts inventories, and handle technical coordination with original manufacturers.
