Permit Coordinator

July 29, 2026
Application ends: October 27, 2026

Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Prior permitting experience — required. Mechanical or construction permitting strongly preferred. You should already understand how a submittal package comes together and what a plan reviewer is likely to send back.
  • Experience navigating online municipal permitting portals. Every jurisdiction runs a different system, and you’ll need to work through them independently.
  • Working knowledge of Trello or comparable project management software
  • Highly tech savvy. This role is entirely online — permitting portals, Trello, email, cloud file storage. You should be comfortable picking up new software without hand-holding.
  • Strong customer service skills. You’ll be on the phone and email daily with building departments, general contractors, and our own crews. How you handle those conversations matters as much as the paperwork.
  • Persistence and follow-through. Permits stall when no one is chasing them.
  • Availability during standard weekday business hours
  • Reliable internet and a quiet workspace for phone calls

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and submit mechanical permit applications to city and county building departments
  • Track application status and follow up until permits are issued
  • Communicate with plan reviewers, inspectors, and permitting clerks
  • Coordinate with our office and field teams on submittal documents, drawings, and inspection scheduling
  • Manage permit workflow and job tracking in Trello
  • Maintain organized, current permit records for all active jobs
  • Stay current on jurisdiction-specific requirements across SC, NC, and GA
