REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT), and insurance processes to facilitate accurate documentation review and claim submissions.
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling and record management.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance to protect patient privacy.
  • Experience in medical office management or clinic settings with a focus on patient service and administrative support.
  • Bilingual abilities are highly valued to assist diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, data entry (including 10-key typing), and documentation review.
  • Exceptional communication skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently.
  • Knowledge of dental terminology or hospital experience is a plus for clinics specializing in dental or inpatient care environments.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced setting while maintaining a positive attitude and delivering outstanding customer service. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits through insurance portals, including Medicare and Medicaid, to facilitate seamless billing processes.
  • Review and update patient documentation, including medical history, care plans, and demographic information, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist patients with intake procedures, including collecting medical history and explaining clinic policies clearly and professionally.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, confirm appointments, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Perform insurance verification and pre-authorizations to ensure coverage for upcoming procedures or visits.
  • Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents correctly in EMR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring easy retrieval for clinical staff.
  • Support front desk activities such as greeting patients, managing appointment reminders, and handling clerical tasks like filing and data entry.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate scheduling needs for specialty services or diagnostic tests.
