HR Generalist
Job Description
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in HR operations, talent coordination, or a recruiting support role, you understand how hiring workflows run and where they break down.
- Familiarity with background check processes and vendors (e.g. Checkr).
- Working knowledge of US employee benefits administration, enrollment, vendor coordination, and compliance basics (ACA, COBRA, ERISA).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple active hiring cycles, onboarding tasks, and benefits requests without losing detail.
- Clear, professional communication with candidates, new hires, internal teams, and external partners, written and verbal.
- Experience with an ATS and HRIS platform; comfort keeping records accurate and current.
- Comfort working autonomously in a remote environment and coordinating across distributed teams.
Preferred
- Experience in a dual recruiting and operations or HR generalist role.
- Exposure to new hire orientation program design or facilitation.
- Familiarity with multi-state or international benefits administration.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or benefits-specific certification is a plus — not a requirement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Talent Acquisition team on active requisitions, coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and keeping hiring workflows moving without gaps.
- Manage the background check process end-to-end: initiating screenings, tracking status, following up with candidates, and escalating issues to the appropriate partners.
- Serve as the operational bridge between the Talent team and Operations, ensuring systems access, equipment, and day-one logistics are aligned and ready before every new hire starts.
- Assist in planning and facilitating new hire orientation sessions, making sure each cohort has the information, introductions, and resources they need to hit the ground running.
- Maintain accurate records across the ATS and HRIS, tracking candidate and new hire status, flagging discrepancies, and keeping data clean for reporting.
- Administer employee benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) — handling enrollments, changes, and terminations with accuracy and care.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee benefits questions, escalating complex issues to vendors or brokers as needed.
- Support open enrollment planning and execution, including employee communications, decision-support materials, and system configuration.
- Partner with Finance and Payroll to reconcile benefits billing and ensure timely submission of carrier files
