Assistant Operations Manager
Job Description
REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of mortgage operations experience (processing, underwriting support, or ops management)
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring a team in a mortgage environment
- Deep knowledge of conventional, FHA, VA, and non-QM loan products
- Strong understanding of TRID, RESPA, and compliance requirements
- Proficiency with Loan Origination Systems and CRM tools
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-starter who thrives in a remote, fast-paced environment
- Clear communicator who can coach team members and escalate issues effectively
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Operations Manager in overseeing the full loan lifecycle from application through closing
- Supervise and coach processors to meet quality and turnaround standards
- Monitor pipeline health and identify bottlenecks, stale files, and compliance risks
- Review conditional approvals, title reports, insurance, and appraisals for accuracy
- Enforce TRID deadlines, lock expiration tracking, and CD approval workflows
- Coordinate with underwriters, title companies, and vendors to resolve issues
- Implement and improve SOPs, checklists, and quality control processes
- Generate pipeline reports and present operational metrics to leadership
- Step in as acting Operations Manager when needed
