REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of one year of experience in culture, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, training, or a related field.
  • Facilitation and training support capabilities; ability to assist in designing and delivering CDI training is a plus.
  • Experience in not-for-profit or animal welfare sectors is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives, manage logistics, and communicate effectively.
  • Comfort and experience with data collection basics and reporting.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and willingness to grow into more advanced CDI design, analytics, and training responsibilities over time.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal, non-verbal) and comfortability with presentations & public speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team player, upbeat, energetic, tactful, and diplomatic, able to get along with people from different backgrounds, as well as experience in stakeholder engagement with community organizations.
  • Empathetic, collaborative, and committed to fostering an inclusive, values-aligned workplace.
  • Must have strong proficiency in MS Office skills including Outlook, Teams (including hosting meetings and calls), Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Proficiency with Workday or similar HRIS platforms is a plus.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with the highest level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Act as an ambassador for Best Friends, including professionally advocating Best Friends’ position on issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the CDI team to implement a comprehensive CDI strategy that aligns with organizational goals and values.
  • Conduct assessments and assist with data collection to evaluate the effectiveness of CDI initiatives, providing administrative recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist in the design, facilitation, and support of CDI training sessions to enhance employee cultural competence and awareness, under supervision.
  • Assist in integrating DEIB best practices into organizational policies, programs, and practices across all departments, providing coordination support.
  • Prepare and present basic reports on CDI metrics and outcomes, including the development of dashboards and trackers, highlighting successes and areas for further development; coordinate data gathering.
  • Coordinate logistics for CDI events, training sessions, and workshops, including scheduling, pre and post material preparation, and venue selection.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of CDI initiatives, training sessions, and program outcomes, ensuring confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
  • Manage communication channels related to CDI initiatives, ensuring timely and consistent messaging to all stakeholders.
  • Assist in outreach efforts to connect with community organizations and universities to attract diverse partnerships/guest speakers.
  • Foster emotional intelligence in all interactions, promoting understanding and empathy within the organization’s culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
