Senior Engineering Manager, Database

Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including at least 4+ years in engineering management.
• Proven track record of leading teams that ship industrial-strength systems software.
• Deep technical expertise in distributed systems or database engines.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, query processing, concurrency control, and data replication.

Preferred

• Hands-on expertise in C or C++ on large codebases.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals.
• Experience managing remote, globally distributed engineering teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead, grow, and mentor a globally distributed team of database internals engineers, overseeing hiring, performance, and career development.
• Own team execution and technical roadmaps in partnership with Product, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Partner with Platform Engineering and other leaders to deliver a world-class experience on Tiger Cloud.
• Engage with high-value customers to resolve technical escalations and translate their needs into product priorities.
• Foster a high-performing, bottom-up engineering culture.
