Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA in production environments.
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise, including performance tuning, indexing, and replication at scale.
• Strong AWS experience (RDS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3) and networking fundamentals.
• Proficiency with CDC (Change Data Capture) integrations and Terraform.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and scripting.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Preferred

• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Fluency with observability tools like Datadog.
• Experience in the payments industry.
• Proficiency in Spanish.
• Exposure to AI/MLOps data infrastructure or Kubernetes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own database administration and optimization, including maintenance, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning for high-throughput systems.
• Design and manage backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity for payment workloads.
• Automate database provisioning and maintenance using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Plan and execute complex data migrations and conversion routines with minimal downtime.
• Build monitoring, dashboards, and alerts to proactively surface database health and performance issues.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers regarding database architecture and best practices.
