Payroll Specialist
Job Description
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience with payroll management software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, or Ceridian
Strong knowledge of accounting principles including debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
Familiarity with financial concepts related to payroll processing, benefits administration, and governmental accounting standards
Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks or similar financial tools
Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and attention to detail
Ability to analyze payroll data effectively and resolve discrepancies promptly
Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing and experience with tax experience preferred
Strong understanding of human resources processes including benefits administration and HRIS systems
RESPONSIBILITIES
Process payroll accurately and efficiently using systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, or UltiPro, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Manage data entry related to employee hours, benefits administration, and deductions within payroll and HRIS platforms
Reconcile payroll accounts through general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping practices
Prepare journal entries for payroll transactions and ensure proper posting to the general ledger
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to handle benefits administration, tax filings, and compliance reporting
Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions, employee data, and audit trails for internal review and external audits
Support accounts payable and receivable processes related to payroll expenses and vendor payments
