Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience in medical coding within a healthcare setting, with familiarity in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to accurately interpret clinical documentation.
• Experience with medical billing procedures and medical collection processes is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for coding entry and record management.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex medical records efficiently.
• Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment with strict compliance standards is preferred.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to medical records confidentiality and security. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and analyze medical records, including physician notes, lab results, and treatment documentation to assign accurate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes.
• Ensure all coding complies with current regulations and payer requirements to optimize reimbursement.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical record (EMR) systems to accurately input coding data and update patient records.
• Collaborate with medical billing teams to resolve discrepancies, clarify documentation, and facilitate smooth claim submission processes.
• Maintain detailed records of coded data for auditing purposes and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, including ICD coding updates and CPT coding revisions.
• Support medical record management by organizing, retrieving, and safeguarding sensitive patient information.
