Mechanical HVAC Engineer
Job Description
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- 6–10 years of HVAC site execution experience, preferably in data centres, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale MEP projects.
- Strong knowledge of data centre cooling systems including CRAH, CRAC, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and FAHU systems.
- Sound understanding of chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, ductwork, insulation, and HVAC installation methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret IFC drawings, shop drawings, coordination drawings, and technical specifications.
- Experience in managing subcontractors, foremen, supervisors, and site labour teams.
- Familiarity with testing, flushing, pressure testing, TAB (Testing & Balancing), and commissioning activities.
- Good understanding of international standards, quality requirements, and HSE practices applicable to data centre construction.
- Strong coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficient in MS Office and capable of preparing progress reports, material tracking reports, and site documentation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise day-to-day site execution of HVAC and mechanical works for data centre projects.
- Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals before execution.
- Coordinate installation of CRAH/CRAC units, FAHUs, AHUs, FCUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and associated equipment.
- Monitor installation of chilled water piping, condenser water piping, refrigerant copper piping, and drainage systems.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, client standards, and approved shop drawings.
- Coordinate with electrical, ELV, civil, and architectural teams to resolve interface issues.
- Plan and monitor manpower deployment, productivity, and work sequencing to meet project schedules.
- Verify equipment positioning, supports, clearances, and maintenance access requirements.
- Supervise pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and commissioning preparation activities.
- Ensure proper installation of ductwork, insulation, vibration isolation systems, and duct accessories.
- Review material deliveries and ensure compliance with approved material submittals.
- Monitor quality of installation and coordinate inspections with QA/QC teams.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for project management.
- Identify site constraints and proactively implement corrective actions to avoid delays.
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for equipment installation and technical support.
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and promote safe working practices on site.
- Participate in client, consultant, and internal coordination meetings.
- Support testing, balancing, commissioning, and integrated systems testing activities.
- Maintain accurate records of completed works, inspections, RFIs, and site instructions.
- Assist Project Manager in achieving project milestones, handover requirements, and project close-out activities.
