Director of Finance
Job Description
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or CFO-level experience.
- Strong understanding of payroll, invoicing, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Experience with QuickBooks and financial reporting systems.
- Knowledge of employee versus contractor classification and labor cost analysis.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare, home care, family services, or service-based businesses.
- CPA, MBA, or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
- Experience supporting small businesses and rapidly growing organizations.
- Passion for serving children, adults, and families with special needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Analyze profitability by service line and recommend growth opportunities.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and dashboards.
- Monitor cash flow and provide recommendations to leadership.
- Support strategic planning and business expansion initiatives.
- Create pricing models and financial projections for new programs and services.
Billing, Payroll & Accounts Management
- Generate and send invoices to families and clients.
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Oversee payroll processing for employees and contractors.
- Manage reimbursements and vendor payments.
- Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks and other financial systems.
Staffing & Employment Cost Analysis
- Evaluate compensation models and provide recommendations.
- Compare W-2 employee costs versus independent contractor models.
- Analyze payroll taxes, benefits, workers’ compensation, and overhead costs associated with each employment structure.
- Assist leadership with hiring decisions from a financial perspective.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state labor regulations.
Contracts & Financial Documentation
- Prepare and maintain payment plans and financial agreements for families.
- Create and manage service agreements, invoices, and related financial documents.
- Coordinate with attorneys, accountants, and payroll providers as needed.
- Ensure proper recordkeeping and compliance with company policies.
- Develop and improve internal financial procedures and systems.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Create monthly Profit & Loss statements, cash flow reports, and key performance indicators.
- Identify areas to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Develop systems and processes that support growth and scalability.
- Partner with leadership to make data-driven business decisions.
