Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience writing for trade publications, government affairs, defense, or business-related media (preferred but not required).
• Strong understanding of military community programs e.g., commissaries, exchanges, MWR, lodging, and other quality-of-life programs (preferred but not required).
• Ability to explain complex issues clearly to both military and civilian audiences.
• Excellent research, interviewing, and writing skills.
• Self-motivated and reliable with strong attention to detail.

Preferred :

• Background in military reporting, federal programs, or logistics sectors (preferred but not required).
• Experience working with nonprofits, associations, or government-affiliated publications (preferred but not required).
• Familiarity with DoW, DeCA, AAFES, NEXCOM, MCX, VCS, and MWR structures (preferred but not required).

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Write clear, compelling, and accurate articles ranging from 200–1,500 words.
• Conduct interviews with subject matter experts, our client’s members, and military officials (when needed).
• Develop story ideas in collaboration with the editorial team or work from assigned briefs.
• Ensure factual accuracy and adherence to AP style and our client’s editorial standards.
• Meet established deadlines and respond promptly to edits and feedback.
• Submit accompanying visuals, data, or sidebars when applicable.
