Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Certificate in Nursing Assistance, Healthcare Assistance, or a related healthcare field.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, clinic, or day surgery center is an advantage.
  • Strong patient care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of infection control and patient safety standards.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care & Support

  • Assist patients with admission, preparation, and discharge processes.
  • Support nurses in providing direct patient care before, during, and after procedures.
  • Monitor and record patients’ vital signs as instructed.
  • Assist patients with mobility, positioning, and transportation within the facility.
  • Ensure patient comfort, privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.
  • Respond promptly to patient needs and communicate concerns to the nursing team.

Clinical Assistance

  • Prepare treatment rooms, procedure rooms, and recovery areas for patient care.
  • Assist physicians and nurses during examinations.
  • Prepare and maintain medical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
  • Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and other nursing procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Ensure availability and proper storage of medical consumables and supplies.

Infection Prevention & Safety

  • Adhere to all infection control policies and standard precautions.
  • Ensure proper sterilization and disinfection procedures are followed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
  • Report incidents, hazards, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns immediately.

Documentation & Administration

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation as delegated.
  • Assist with appointment coordination and patient flow management.
  • Update patient information in the electronic medical record system.
  • Support inventory management and stock monitoring.

Quality & Compliance

  • Comply with all SWIFT Day Surgery Centre policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Adhere to applicable healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in training, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements.
