Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical accounts receivable, with a focus on NJ PIP and/or out-of-network billing.
  • Strong understanding of PIP regulations, billing procedures, and insurance guidelines.
  • Previous experience with NJ post-service PIP appeals and arbitration since the 2017 regulation changes is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and oversee the collection of payments for medical claims.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding accounts, ensuring timely resolution of underpaid, unpaid or denied claims.
  • Handle inbound and outbound calls to insurance companies and attorneys to follow up on unpaid claims and address balance inquiries.
  • Respond to client and attorney inquiries regarding billing and accounts receivable.
  • Collect and prepare necessary documents for arbitration.
  • Communicate with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to address billing discrepancies and secure necessary documentation.
  • Review and analyze accounts receivable reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Use Practice Management and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems effectively.
  • Navigate Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and other insurance correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of billing activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the billing team to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing billing inquiries and resolving concerns.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, updates, and changes in billing regulations and practices.
  • Ensure patient privacy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
