Staff Backend Engineer

Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience, ideally in SaaS or high-scale distributed systems
• Proven experience designing, scaling, and operating complex backend systems
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, data modeling, and infrastructure
• Strong proficiency with modern AI engineering workflows and tooling
• Experience building secure, observable, and fault-tolerant systems in production environments
• Strong execution mindset with the ability to balance rapid iteration against long-term reliability

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own major areas of backend architecture, including APIs, distributed systems, data models, and core business logic
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate development, debugging, testing, and documentation
• Identify opportunities to integrate AI into internal engineering systems and customer-facing platform capabilities
• Design, build, and iterate on production systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, and maintainability
• Architect systems capable of supporting increasing scale and evolving customer workflows
• Define and implement modern testing, observability, and operational practices
• Mentor engineers across the organization to raise the technical bar for backend engineering and system design
