Head of Security

Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years in security roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity
• Deep technical foundation with the ability to review architecture, infrastructure, and code
• Experience building or maturing security programs at early-stage or high-growth companies
• Strong expertise in cloud security (AWS, GCP, or Azure), identity/access management, and data protection
• Hands-on experience with compliance frameworks including SOC 2 and ISO 27001
• Hands-on experience with HIPAA compliance
• Ability to operate effectively as both an individual contributor and a leader

Preferred

• Experience securing data pipelines or working with data-intensive platforms
• Background in AI/ML or experience working in a data infrastructure company
• Experience with data provenance, lineage tracking, or data governance in ML contexts
• Familiarity with supply chain security
• Prior experience as a customer-facing security leader

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own the end-to-end security strategy, architecture, and operations to protect AI training data pipelines
• Mature the security and compliance program, including maintaining SOC 2 Type II and building robust HIPAA protection programs
• Secure the full lifecycle of training data, from ingestion and processing to storage and delivery
• Partner with engineering to embed security into CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and data workflows
• Conduct hands-on technical work including threat modeling, architecture reviews, and code-level security assessments
• Lead incident response and evaluate/deploy security tooling
• Serve as the security face to customers by fielding security questionnaires and supporting sales cycles
• Translate security risks into business language for the executive team and board
