REQUIREMENTS

• Strong knowledge of medical coding including DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards.
• Proficiency in medical billing processes, including claim preparation, submission, and follow-up procedures.
• Experience working with EMR systems and EHR platforms for billing purposes.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
• Ability to perform medical collections efficiently while maintaining professionalism and customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to medical billing and coding compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and interpret clinical documentation to accurately assign appropriate DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for behavioral health services.
• Prepare and submit clean claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring adherence to payer guidelines.
• Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by contacting insurance companies and patients to resolve billing issues promptly.
• Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, including detailed documentation of billing activities and correspondence.
• Stay current with updates in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations affecting behavioral health billing practices.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation requirements and improve billing accuracy.
• Assist in resolving discrepancies in medical records and ensure compliance with all privacy laws and regulations.
