REQUIREMENTS
- Strong communication skills with an ability to convey complex information simply.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial transactions.
- Previous experience in medical billing or patient accounts management.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and healthcare regulations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meet with patients (remotely) to review their insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and estimated charges related to upcoming services.
- Provide clear and compassionate explanations of financial responsibilities, billing processes, and payment policies.
- Identify patients who may qualify for financial assistance, Financial Hardship, or other third-party coverage, and guide them through the application process.
- Collaborate with Office Administrators, Billing, and Clinical teams to ensure accurate financial clearance and pre-service collections.
- Set up payment plans, collect upfront payments when necessary, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all financial counseling interactions in the electronic health record (EHR) and/or financial systems. Participate in audits, training, and quality improvement initiatives related to patient financial services.
